Family 35 is the only significant line of transmission, both ancient and independent, that has a demonstrable archetypal form in all 27 books; plus a totally new critical apparatus that gives a percentage of manuscript attestation to the variant readings, and that includes six competing published editions. Even if you don't agree with Pickering on every point, or even on most of his points, this is a reference you simply MUST own If you do any work at all with the NT text.Just as Hodges and Farstad broke new ground with their very layman accessible and thorough (for that time) footnotes in their Majority Text Greek and in the subsequent NKJV English translation, Pickering's apparatus alone is worthy of a well worn place on your bookshelf. Here you will find that many a passage occurs where NA/UBS simply "forgot" to cite significant points of variation among the NT Greek witnesses that Pickering points out clearly here for the first time.
None of us would want to have only one witness - one surviving manuscript - as to what the apostles originally said. So likewise, do not assume that having only one guide (NA/UBS) as to the variation within that great and wondrous stream of manuscripts is sufficient. We need a multitude of witnesses about what the manuscript witnesses say. A hundred years ago, the main collations were just picking up steam in their thoroughness. But what excuse do they have now about why we still are not in possession of complete and public collations of all the NT manuscripts? None. So, until that time, take Pickering along for a second opinion on what the manuscript evidence actually shows.

THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT According to Family 35 Wilbur N Pickering 9780989827324 Books Reviews
It's good to finally have the most reliable manuscript for the New Testament in hand!
Excellent & long overdue scholarly edition of the Greek NT.
Must read for anyone interested in textual issues.
The labor of Wilbur Pickering in codifying the variants in the Greek New Testament, from the perspective of Family 35, has been very beneficial to me personally in my journey to understand Greek text types of the New Testament. I commend consideration of Pickering's work as one of several helpful alternatives to the contemporary critical edition text.
First of all, this Bible presents the New Testament IN GREEK, it is not in english (please look the preview). This publication should be of interest to those who already study the NT in the original language.
If you`re interested in the english translation of this greek text of the NT search for "The Sovereign Creator has spoken" also by Dr. Pickering.
So, what about this Bible?
In a nutshell, it renders the reading of the NT according to Family 35 -- a manuscript group. And presents the percentage of each variable based on the totality of greek manuscripts, hence the "… new critical apparatus … " on the text below the books`title.
If you`re interested in knowing the premisses in which this rendering came to be and also the methodology used to achieve this rendering, look for yet another publication of Dr. Pickering entitled "The Identity of the New Testament Text IV" (if not yet available search for the III edition).
Still need more? ok...
Just below the title is written "the only significant line of transmission, both accent and independent, that has a demonstrable archetypal form in all 27 books …"
This means that this publication contains the greek text according to Dr. Pickering findings inside Family 35. This particular group of manuscripts has one astonishing characteristic some manuscripts are 100% identical one to the other! Some thing thought impossible by the whole theological academy. So the immediate consequence is that the NT text was not only of divine inspiration but it`s contend was also preserved throughout the ages. And such preservation is also known to be yet another theological impossibility.
Dr. Wilbur Pickering has spent over a decade researching and studying NT manuscripts, and finally Family 35 line of transmission of the NT greek text presented an extremely high concordance rate (or very low variations) between its`NT manuscripts. If this phenomenon may also be found in other manuscripts families, than the entire theological field of textual criticism of the NT should be shutdown because there would be nothing to criticise, for the NT text would have never been lost in the first place.
I am delighted to see Dr. Pickering's text go into printed form. I have followed this work as it progressed. I would hope it would appear in hardback form and smaller size for carry purposes. It is a very valuable tool for those who have ventured into the textual issue. His arguments are very convincing and I believe to much profit for those who have become a bit annoyed by the 'same old school of thought' of Wescott and Hort or the 'eclectic' view. My kudos to Dr. Pickering for spending much of his missionary life putting this together for God's people. His critical notes are particularly helpful when comparing witnesses when the numbers count.
The number of mss constituting von Soden's Kr group are over 200, but family 35 represents only about one-sixtth of this number. We need to have the complete set of mss analysed as thoroughly as Wilbur has achieved for his chosen few.
A theological blunder occurs in the heading of Luke 323. This does not represent Mary's genealogy, but Joseph's.
The ET is spoiled by following Floyd Nolen Jones' faulty chronology in Gal 317, which puts the Exodus in 1491 BC, when it actually occurred in 1446 BC.
Another theological blunder occurs in the ET of Matt 199, where it follows Erasmus exception clause. The text should have been translated as "Whoever divorces his wife, not for fornication [which is a death penalty sin], and marries another commits adultery." There is a simple negation of "for fornication" here, once you remove EI.
Even if you don't agree with Pickering on every point, or even on most of his points, this is a reference you simply MUST own If you do any work at all with the NT text.
Just as Hodges and Farstad broke new ground with their very layman accessible and thorough (for that time) footnotes in their Majority Text Greek and in the subsequent NKJV English translation, Pickering's apparatus alone is worthy of a well worn place on your bookshelf.
